Industrial Working Group (IWG)

The Industrial Working Group (IWG) deals with technical issues relating to industrial lubricants and their additives. The committee reviews technical developments within Europe, assesses current and proposed legislation, e.g. with regard to biolubricant definitions and life cycle assessments.

Terms of Reference

  • Forum to exchange topics/information on technical issues related to industrial lubricants.

  • Facilitate technical discussions between ATC members.

  • Develop positions as appropriate to form the basis of external representation of ATC.

Objectives

  • Identify topics/issues critical to the industrial fluid industry and take appropriate actions to respond or not.

  • Observation of technical and regulatory developments, reviews of commercially available tests on demand.

  • Collect and analyse use phase performance information of industrial lubricants. Define use phase examples to quantify the impact of additives on sustainability. Focus on representative industrial end uses/applications.

Key Recent Achievements

  • Developed a document about bio-lubricant standards

  • Developed a document entitled “Industrial Lubricants – Applications and Impact of Additives on Performance”

  • Working on a position on use-phase aspects of industrial lubricant life-cycle assessments.
