Health & Safety Legislation (HSL)

The Health and Safety Legislation Committee (HSL) tracks emerging regulations that impact the ability of ATC companies to market lubricant and fuel additives. The HSL members work together to develop common positions and seek to mitigate the impact of such developments.

Terms of Reference

  • Review and assess current and proposed legislation and regulations which could impact member company operations within Europe in the petroleum additives business.

  • Review all health, safety and environmental matters which may affect the petroleum additives industry and its downstream users in Europe and beyond.

  • Monitor other associated developments and give technical advice and support to overall ATC activities.

Objectives

  • Monitor and review global chemicals health, safety and environmental legislation as it impacts additive companies in Europe.

  • Develop technical and scientific positions on health, safety and environmental regulatory issues as appropriate with regulatory authorities and other industry associations in Europe.

Key Recent Achievements

  • Worked with ATIEL to develop joint ATIEL/ATC Generic exposure scenarios.

  • Collaborated with ATIEL and ACEA to develop a standardised methodology for sharing chemical regulatory compliance information across the supply chain.

  • Responding to EU CLH proposals for substituted diphenylamines (SDPA) antioxidants.
